At Houston Affordable Designs, our local team – Liz Crider, Rachel Berry, and Michelle Maldonado – works closely with skilled handymen, carpenters, and furniture assembly experts to transform your home with ease. We’re a group of motivated problem solvers who pride ourselves on efficiency and a worry-free process from consultation to installation. With eight dedicated designers on staff, we combine creativity, smart and functional shopping, and a thoughtful understanding of your individual style to create beautiful, affordable spaces that authentically tell your story.

"I grew up in a family where no one was a stranger to the DIY lifestyle. My parents were always finding creative ways to elevate their home and make it as functional as possible. Once I was on my own, I had an instant desire to design and renovate. My first projects were either small real estate investments or my own home- all while having a full time corporate job. 

Soon enough, something life changing happened, the current condo I was flipping was featured on HGTV. This was the turning point in my design career, and I knew I would have a long, beautifully designed journey ahead of myself.​

Once I decided to start helping other people improve their spaces, that quickly became what is now Houston Affordable Designs. Now, I am a studio owner and designer with a talented team of 7 fellow designers servicing Houston and the surrounding areas."

  • Project Manager
    Rachel brings a unique blend of creativity and problem-solving to our interior design team. With a talent for finding innovative solutions to even the most unconventional challenges, Rachel’s vision and attention to detail shine through in every project she undertakes. Her passion for design, combined with her sharp eye for detail, makes her an invaluable part of our studio.
    When she’s not working on transforming spaces, Rachel enjoys quality time with her dog, Piper, and has a soft spot for McDonald’s Soft Serve cones. A proud alumna of Ole Miss, she carries the spirit of her alma mater into her work, always infusing fresh perspectives and energy into our projects.

  • Associate Designer and Coordinator
    ​    Michelle is a creative problem-solver with a sharp eye for detail. She’s always coming up with fresh ideas and finding smart solutions to even the trickiest design challenges. She earned her bachelor's degree in interior design from Sam Houston State University and firmly believes every space has potential—she loves the process of transforming environments into something special.
    When she’s not at work, Michelle enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, exploring different ramen spots, and keeping her Mamma Mia playlist on repeat!
